 Ingredients:

- 6 large egg yolks

- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 1 cup mascarpone cheese, softened

- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream

- 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled to room temperature

- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (such as Kahlua or Tia Maria)

- 1 package ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)

- Cocoa powder, for dusting

- Dark chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

 Instructions:

1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and thick. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and continue to whisk constantly for about 8-10 minutes, until the mixture has thickened and reached a ribbon-like consistency.

2. Remove the bowl from the heat and allow the egg mixture to cool slightly. Then, whisk in the softened mascarpone cheese until smooth and well combined. Set aside.

3. In a separate mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until evenly incorporated. Set aside.

4. In a shallow dish, combine the cooled brewed coffee and coffee liqueur. Dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture for about 1-2 seconds on each side, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

5. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfinger cookies in the bottom of a 9x13-inch (or similar size) serving dish, breaking them if necessary to fit.

6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the layer of ladyfinger cookies, using a spatula to smooth the surface.

7. Repeat the layers with the remaining soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.

8. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

9. Before serving, sift cocoa powder over the top of the chilled tiramisu to create an even dusting. Optionally, garnish with dark chocolate shavings for an extra touch of elegance.

10. Slice and serve the tiramisu chilled, and enjoy the luxurious combination of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling!
